Register as a Course Provider

1. Enter to url: http://www.guna.org.uk/index.php/education
2. Choose Register or Login
3. Complete the Username and password
4. Please select a login you will remember (we suggest the name of your organisation), and also a password that you will remember
5. When you submit your registration by clicking the Join button, you will be taken to a new page that will inform you Your registration was successful, and you will also receive a confirmatory email. This email confirms your user name and password – you should keep it safe for future reference
6. Next, proceed to click the Login for course providers. This will take you through to where you can start to input details of your course(s)

Login

1. When you click through to the Login for course providers, you will be taken to an area in which you will need to input your login (user name) and password (from your registration). Once entered in the correct field, click on Login to continue
2. You will next go through to a summary page of your registered courses. If this is your first time of login, then this list will be empty. If you are coming back to update or add to your listing, then all the courses thus far entered into the database will be listed

Add Course

1. Once you have completed login, you will be on the summary page of your courses. To add a course, click on Add Course
2. This will take you through to the pro-forma which allows you to add information about your course
3. Module/Course No. – this is a compulsory field. Here you should enter the module/course serial number that is used by your organisation e.g. CNM0905
4. Badged by – this field pertains to any professional organisation or associate who have endorsed or recommend this course of study. Move your mouse into the box and click to tick. The field allows you to ‘tick’ as many boxes as apply, as many courses are recommended by more than one organisation. Please understand that it is not possible for GUNA or the Department of Health (DH) to validate this endorsement, but false claims may be challenged directly by the listed organisation if discovered
5. Consortium Link – this field is provides a scroll down list of educational consortiums and confederations across the UK. Please scroll down to find your relevant link. If not linked to a consortium or federation, or unsure of which applies, please selected the ‘Not applicable’ option
6. Module/Course Title – this is compulsory field, for you to enter the module/course title allocated by your organisation e.g. introduction to sexual health for nurses
7. Title of Award Module Contributing to – this is a compulsory field, where you can enter the details of any academic award the module/course may contribute towards e.g. BSc Nursing. If the module/course is free standing and not integrated within an academic pathway, please enter as ‘free standing’ or ‘not applicable’
8. No. of Credits – this compulsory field allows you to enter a numeric value for the number of academic credits awarded to the module/course. If there are no academic credits attached to the module/course, please enter a ‘0’ in this field
9. Level – this compulsory scroll down list allows you to enter the level at which the module/course is set and/or the academic credits are awarded. If the module/course is free standing or not integrated within an academic pathway, please default this level by placing on level 4 – certificate level
10. Entry Requirements – it is important to list within this compulsory field any prerequisite for undertaking the course of study. What is meant by this is where potential students/applicants require any prior academic achievements, need to be a registered healthcare professional (e.g. a nurse), need to work in a certain speciality area (e.g. only for practitioners actually working in family planning services), and/or whether any prerequisite modules are required to facilitate entry to the module or course of study being entered on the database. If there are no prerequisites to the module/course, please default to ‘not applicable’
11. Competencies gained – this compulsory field is based on the recently published Sexual health competencies: an integrated career and competency framework for sexual and reproductive health nursing and link to the overview of the NHS KSF and competency framework. Move your mouse into the box and click to tick. The field allows you to ‘tick’ as many boxes as apply
12. Assessment Methods – This compulsory field allows you to list the methods used to assessed and test module/course participants through their learning. Move your mouse into the box and click to tick. The field allows you to ‘tick’ as many boxes as apply
13. Method of Delivery – this compulsory field is where you need to state the modes in which the learning is delivered on this module/course. Again, move your mouse into the box and click to tick. The field allows you to ‘tick’ as many boxes as apply
14. Indicative Content – this compulsory free text field allows you to list any additional information about the module/course, such as the learning outcomes, summary of topics to be covered, teaching and learning methods, structure of the module, hours of private study expected, any practice placements information and hours, etc. This list is not exhaustive, but it is the opportunity to list any other information you feel it is important for potential students/applicants to know about the course, which is not covered elsewhere on the pro-forma. Please keep your text brief and avoid using abbreviations or acronyms which potential students/applicants may not understand or be familiar with.
15. Course Frequency – this compulsory field gives several options within a scroll down list. If none of the options fit your module/course, please select other, then enter the actual frequency in the free text field next to the scroll down list field
16. Course Duration – these compulsory button boxes allow you to choose one option relevant to your module/course, e.g. days. Move your mouse you’re the button and click to select
17. Duration Value – this compulsory numeric field allows you to enter the value pertaining to the option previously selected relevant for your module/course. E.g. if previously you entered ‘days’ how you would state how many days, e.g. 6
18. Cost – these compulsory tick boxes allow you to select how the module/course is financed. Move your mouse over the most appropriate option box, and click to select. You should select only one option. Once selected, please enter the price (in pounds sterling) into the numeric entry field alongside the selected option, e.g. if you select per module, place £400 into the empty numeric field
19. Course Leader Full Name – this compulsory field should be completed with the full name of the module/course leader, or most appropriate person for potential applicants/students to contact about the module/course details. It will most likely be the person completing the on-line pro-forma
20. Course Leader Qualification – in order to give potential applicants and/or their sponsors (many employers seeking appropriate professional development for staff will use the database) an idea of the calibre of the module/course, and help assess quality in line with the recently published Quality Standards for Sexual Health Training, we require the module/course leader to list their highest academic qualification attainment. Please note, course leaders do not have to list every qualification, just the most relevant or that of the highest order e.g. Masters in Continuing Education of Adult Learners
21. Admissions/Booking Contact Person – this compulsory field is where you should list the name of the person or department potential applicants/students should contact for further information on the module/course, especially how to register for the module/course. This may be a person (e.g. Sandra Smith) or a department (e.g. City Registry Department)
22. E-mail for Admissions/Bookings – this compulsory filed allows you to enter the email contact details of the person or department potential applicants/students can contact on line for further information on the module/course. This may be a person (e.g. Sandra.smith@city.ac.uk) or a department (e.g. admissions@city.ac.uk)
23. Telephone for Admissions/Bookings – please provide within this compulsory numeric field the contact telephone number (with full regional dialling code) for the person or department listed in the previous two fields
24. Once all the fields have been completed (the overall process takes approximately 5- 10 minutes), please click on the ‘Upload’ button. You will then be taken to a screen thanking you for submitting the information, and informing you it will be checked by a GUNA moderator before being added to the database. This moderation process usually takes 24 hours, and you will receive an email confirming your information has been accepted and is on the site.
